The Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel is looking for an Executive Sous Chef!

The Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel is part of Marriott International, with almost 3700 hotels worldwide. It is a luxurious lifestyle hotel with 402 hotel rooms, 11 meeting rooms, a restaurant, a lounge bar and a café. At the opposite of the hotel, connected by an onderground passage, is the 17th Century “Koepelkerk”. Since 1975 this formal church is a congress and event facility of the hotel. One of the unique characteristics of our hotel is its pleasant informal atmosphere, while service meets all expectations.

Our Executive Sous Chef is reporting to the Executive Chef and the Director of Food & Beverage. You are managing activities of our cooks and stewards. In this position you are determining how food should be presented and create decorative food displays. You monitor the quantity of food that is prepared; inform the Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out of stock menu items. You will prepare special meals or substitute items and you will monitor stock of kitchen supplies and food. You are maintaining kitchen logs for food safety programs and food products and ensure the quality of the food items. In this position you are assisting management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining and motivating and coaching employees.

To be eligible for this position you…
- have an MBO niveau 4 Kok (Leidinggevende keuken) or similar degree
- have 6 years work experience in a managerial position in the kitchen
- have at least 2 years experience in a managerial position in the kitchen
- can communicate in Dutch and English
- have knowledge of overall hotel operations
